Kundala is one of the picturesque tourist destinations and is located almost 20 KM away from Munnar. This stunning destination lies on the way to Top Station View Point. Located at the height of 1700 m above the sea level, it has become the hot spot for a weekend gateway for the local residents and an off-beat travel destination for the casual travellers. This place is well known for the artificial Kundala dam. This dam is Asia’s first arch dam and attracts plenty of tourists every year. This is located near Munnar hence, it is well – connected by all means of transport.
In Kundala, cherry blossoms twice a year which is yet another tourist attraction this place offers. This place is also prominent for its Neela Kurunji flowers that once in 12 years. These flowers etch over the hills, valleys and wrap the whole landscape in a lovely purple color which is an ethereal sight. It is advised to take umbrella and raincoat as rain showers are common in the hilly areas.

Kundala can be easily reached either from Aluva junction which is about 133 km from the place via Aluva – Munnar road or from Kottayam junction which is about 152 km from the central road. Also, one can reach this place from Cochin international airport which is located at a distance of 132 km via Aluva – Munnar road.
Here, the visitors can explore tea plantations, take a short walk near Kundala lake and enjoy the tranquil environment. Also, speed boating in the lake is yet another option for the visitors.
