Varkala Beach is located at the south of Kollam and north of Trivandrum, in India's southern state of Kerala. The beach is divided into two parts - South and North Cliff. South Cliff is less crowded and much quieter than North Cliff. Varkala beach is not just a tourist location but also a religious place for the Hindu community. The beach is also known as papanasham beach. 'Pappanasham' in local language means 'destruction of sins'. It is believed that taking a dip in the waters of this beach cleanses away all your sins.

The nearest railway station to Varkala beach is Varkala Railway Station, about 3 KM away from Varkala. And the nearest airport is the Trivandrum International Airport, about 57 KM from the destination. The beach is also well connected to the road so one can reach the destination by buses, Auto-rickshaws, Taxi cars etc.

Varkala is a wonderful place to relax and rejuvenate. Dolphins are easy to spot along the Varkala coastline.
