Vagator Beach is one of the well known tourist destination beaches of the Goa State located very close to Anjuna Beach. The beach is located very close to Mapusa and the Chapora river.

Vagator Beach is one of the well known beaches og the state of Goa in India. Vagator beach is the northernmost beach of Goa located in the Bardez Taluka. Anjuna Beach is located to the south of Vagator and was the starting point for the Hippie people.

Facts about the Vagator Beach

Vagator Beach has beautiful looking red coloured cliffs very close to the shore and there are two fresh water springs located at about a stone's throw from the sea. vagator Beach is divided in to two Beaches one is Big vagator or North vagator beach and the next is the little vagator or the Ozram Beach. There are a number of bars playing dance and trance music, and that too mostly during the tourist season, some of them are Nine Bar, Hill top, Primrose etc. these bars play a different type of Trance and psychedelic music from different DJ's around the world.

Shopping facilities at Vagator Beach

Anjuna is the nearest market with lots of tourist traffic. This Beach is located on the opposite bank of the Chapora river from Morjim in Pernem of Goa. You can see the Chapora Fort when you stand there at the Vagator beach. Mapusa is the nearest town for the daily provisions and shopping. Locals prefer to go to Mapusa for shopping. Chapora is the nearest village to buy fresh fish off the fishing boats as they come into the jetty after fishing in the sea.

Accommodationa and restaurant facilities at Vagator Beach

Vagator Beach will not be good for accommodation purposes, it will be better for you to stay at Anjuna which has better facilities, many hotels and resorts. You can find many restaurants catering to both western and Indian tourists on the beach but most of these open only during the season that is October to January. Usually the crowd used to be westerners but nowadays Indian tourists have started coming to watch sunset from this beach.

How to Reach Vagator Beach

This vagator beach is located in North Goa, about 22 kilometers from Panaji the capital city of Goa. The nearest airport is dabolim airport and is 29 kilometers away from Panaji and Panaji is a further 22 kilometer away.
If you are travelling by road Vagator beach is just 9 kilometers from Mapusa. You can find frequent buses plying from Panaji and Mapusa to Vagator.

Goa has many more beaches and forts that is attracting thousands of tourists. Fort Aguada is one of the forts near Anjuna that is famous among visitors.
