Delhi is a place where a number of tourist places are present. These places are centre of attraction for the people of Delhi as well as people from all over India come to these places to get mental peace. However people of Delhi also feel like going to some Tourist places other than those present in Delhi. In this article I will discuss everything in detail about some of the most famous tourist destinations present near to Delhi.

Famous tourist attractions in Delhi


There are a number of tourist attractions in Delhi. Here are just few of them:

Nizam-ud-din shrine


It is one of the major tourist attractions in Delhi. This is the tomb of saint Hazrat Nizam-ud-Din Auliya. Moreover a number of toms which are historically very important are also present here like the has the tomb of Amir Khusrau, grave of princess Jahanara. Fair is also held at this place on some special occasions that attracts a number of tourists. People from all over India visit NIZAM-UD-DIN SHRINE during the fairs.

Jama masjid


Jama masjid is the largest mosque in India and the oldest one in Delhi. During mid prayers on Friday non muslims can not enter this place as muslims do their prayer here. This place is of too much religious significance. There is permission for women to enter in this mosque. It has a capacity of incorporating 25,000 people at a time. It has three big gateways.

Gurudwara rakab ganj


Gurudwara rakab ganj is also known as Near Parliament House. It was built in the year 1732 by Lakkhi Banjara. This place is also of a lot of significance both historically and geographically. It is also one of the most visited places in Delhi.

Gurudwara sis ganj


Gurudwara sis ganj is present just opposite to Red Fort. It was built in remembrance of ninth Sikh guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur. Here there are anumber of historical things still preserved and kept that were used by Guru Tegh Bahadur at that time. For instance here you can see the banyan tree under which Guru was martyred and the wall where Guru had his daily bath.

The baha'i temple


The baha'i temple is located to the east of Nehru Place. It is built in the shape of flower lotus. The construction of the temple was completed in the year 1986. It also has a very beautiful garden attached to it. The symbol of lotus was choosen as this symbol is common in many religions like Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Islam. Thus people of all religions come to visit this famous and pleasing temple. The temple is closed on Sundays and visiting time is between 8:30a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 4:00p.m. to 07:30 p.m.

Laxmi narayan temple


Laxmi narayan temple is also known as Birla Mandir. It is one the major attractions of Delhi tourism. The temple was built by G. D. Birla in 1938. It is located in the west of Connaught Place. The temple has been devoted to Laxmi and Narayana. People come to visit this temple from different regions as a lot of faithof people is attached with this temple.

Gurudwara bangla sahib


Gurudwara bangla sahib is located about ½ Km from Connaught Place. This place was provide to eighth guru of the sikhs, Guru Harkrishan Dev by Raja Jai Singh and later became popular as Bangla Sahib. It is also believed that water present inside a tank in this temple had healing powers and it cured a number of people affected by small pox and cholera. It is still believed that the water has healing powers even today. There is also a museum present inside that shows the life and history of Sikh Gurus.

Iskcon temple


Iskcon temple is a must to visit place and is always attracts a number of vistors throughout the year. The temple has a number of interesting features like using animatronics, sound and light, painting, dioramas and sculpture which denote the life of Hare Krishna sect. There are also handmade paintings of Radha and Krishna which increase the charm of the place. You can also enjoy tasty food at the restaurant called Govinda present here.

St. james church


St. james church is located near to Kashmere Gate . It was built by James Skinner in the year 1836. The church has a lot of historical importance too. The church has different portions with different characteristics and is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Delhi. There is a dome also present which is just like the dome of the Florence Cathedral by Brunelleschi.

The sacred heart cathedral


The sacred heart cathedral is also one of the very popular churches in Delhi. It si situated at Connaught Place near the Gole Post Office. The church was built by Henry Medd. Most of the construction of the church is done with white marble which makes it really appealing for the eyes. The church also attracts a number of visitors and is worth a visit.

Buddhist temple


Buddhist temple is located at Mandir Marg. It is very near to Jantar Mantar. The temple was inaugurated by Mahatama Gandhi. On this temple a fair is organized every Tuesday and Saturday which attracts a number of people .
