Punnapra known as the ‘Rice Bowl of Kerala', Punnapra is a coastal village of the Arabian Sea which lies in the Western Region of Kuttanad. The village lies in the Alappuzha district of Kerala and was once part of the princely state of Travancore. An uprising in the form of strike for better wages for the coir industry workers led to lots of deaths and violence which is now known as Punnapra Vayalar uprising. Munroe Island, Kollam Beach, Tangasseri Lighthouse are some other tourist places near Punnapra which can be explored by the visitors.
