The Champakulam Church or St Mary's church is among the oldest churches in the Kerala region. This is situated in the Alappuzha district and is believed to be one of the seven churches established by St. Thomas in AD 427. It is poplar for its scenic beauty and far – flung surroundings. Situated on the banks of the Pamba River, this Champakulam Church offers the calmest and the most peaceful environment to its visitors. It is recognized as the mother church of almost all the Catholic Syrian churches in Alleppey district.
