It was constructed in 1708 AD and was one of the important military centers of the British government. It is situated in the heart of Thalassery town and can be easily accessed. This fort is built in a square shape and can be easily distinguished by its massive ventilated walls and strong flanking bastions. It also has a secret tunnel to the sea and intricately carved huge doors. It also has a cemetery and collector's mansion nearby.
