Nandi Hills is located about 75 km from Bangalore city, in the Karnataka state of India. If you visit this beautiful hill top, you will always want to come back. Travel Tips

Try to reach before sunrise. The sight of rising sun is an amazing view from the top of the hill. If you are late, you will be still blessed with the fantastic view of valleys on the other side of the hill.

Be careful while walking through the rocks on the edges. Like many other tourist destinations in India, safety is left to the visitors and not assured by providing enough protection and fences on the steep edges.

Avoid rainy days since it can get a bit of messy at the top of the hill. Also, the drive through the hilly region could be risky when it's raining.

How to Reach

Buses to Nandi Hills

There are lot of government buses from Bangalore, Chikkaballapur and Nandigrama to Nandi Hills. All the buses will go only up to the parking area near the top of the hill, from where you have to go nearly 500 metres by foot. If you are going by your own vehicle, you can either park at the parking place or go further to the top of the hill by paying a small access fee.

Be careful while driving since the roads are narrow, curvy and steep in many places. It's recommended to return before sunset.

This is a perfect place to go cycling or bike trips. By road, it will take about 8 km from the foot to the top of the hill.

If you are going trekking, there are several routes you can take through the forests.

Activities

There is a pretty well maintained park at the top of the hill, which are enjoyed the best by the kids and parents alike. You will see a lot of college students, most of them in pairs, enjoying their time in the park. Kids can safely run around for hours in the park.

Timings & Season

Nandi hills is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Sunrise is the primary attraction at Nandi Hills. To see the sunrise, you have to be there before 6AM in the morning. Mornings and evenings are the best time to be at the hill. Between 11 AM to 3 PM, it may be a bit hot.

Any season of the year is good to visit Nandi Hills. Temperature remains relatively cool compared to Bangalore any time of the year. So, a visit to Nandi Hills is a great escape during summer.
