When you are not a mountain person but have the urge of exploring them so in such case you need to work a lot. As the more you walk towards higher elevation, the more it becomes hard to corporate into the mountains, people who already live in there, that isn't difficult for them as they are the familiar one.
But when a person from plains go to the mountains, it has different effects, it has been seen that mountain sickness occurs above the elevation of 10,000 Ft. though it also depends on the mental, and physical health of the person.

Higher Elevations treks like Stok Kangri trek, Pin Parvati Pass trek, demands a decent fitness along with the strong mental outset, but that does not mean that in lower elevations treks like Kedarkantha trek, Brahamatal trek there is less need of fitness, these treks also demand a proper level of competence and Knowledge.
So here are some of the causes, and the preventions of them that you need to take in consideration while going trekking.

    1. Demons that hit the body

    a. Dehydration

When you walk towards the higher altitude, the body at that time is not able to take the proper oxygen, therefore, you breathe rapidly, and the body consumes the water, hence the body gets dehydrated; water is must in the mountains to walk the higher altitude with ease.
And the best way to know that your body is not appropriately hydrated is by checking the color of the urine, that turns out to be pale or darker.

    b. Loss of Appetite

As body demands more oxygen, but the loss of appetite is well known in the mountains, as the metabolism slows down, and there is an absolute water consumption that comes from food, so if you are not hungry still you need to replenish your energy time to time as in the physical exertion you need it.

    c. Fast Ascend; Causes Acute Mountain Sickness

High altitude sickness emerges while ascending such as HACE, HAPE in people who rapidly ascend to altitudes above 8200 Ft.

    d. Drowsiness

Resting at higher elevation can cause the drowsiness, and lack of sleep and laziness can make a person clueless.

    2. Fight the Demon AKA Preventions

    a. Take proper intake of water as dehydration is the sources of every problem.

    b. Descent is the only way you can get over by the altitude sickness for Severe AMS, HAPE or HACE. Descend at least 1500-3000 Ft or further till symptoms subside.

    c. Inhale and exhale appropriately so that it will not create a breathing problem more, and before coming on a trek, one can pursue it at home as an exercise or in their yoga routine

    d. Carry prescribed medicines by the doctor, and WFA, WAFA.

    e. No single treatment replaces the need for acclimatization before symptoms appear, or immediate descent once afflicted.

    f. Giving pure oxygen can help a person with severe breathing problems caused by altitude sickness. Physicians at mountain resorts commonly provide this treatment.

Causes:- The main cause of altitude sickness is ascending to a great height too rapidly. Climbing too high and staying there for too long may also cause it. The person has to breathe faster to compensate for the oxygen shortfall, and the heart has to beat faster too. Even though breathing faster raises blood oxygen levels, they do not reach sea level concentrations.

Treatment:- Take rest, consume plenty of fluids, avoid smoking
