    How to visit Anamudi peak?


    Do you like to go trekking in Anamudi? Want to visit and experience the wilderness of Anamudi peak near Munnar in Kerala? It is a restricted area and access to the mountain is limited.



    I would like to visit the Anamudi peak in Kerala. Is there a proper road to this mountain where we can drive to the base of the mountain and then go for trekking? Is it safe to go trekking in Anamudi?

    I'm getting conflicting information from Google. Some websites are saying we are allowed to go there. Some other websites say only safari by the forest department is allowed. Some others say we cannot go there at all. What is the truth?

    After an extensive search I found that you can reach Anamudi peak by an hour drive from Munnar or a trek of four hours.
    As Anamudi is around 13 km from Munnar, the road towards Gundumlai will take you there. A trek of 4-5 hours ascending over 600 meters in altitude. The trek will not be that tough as the slopes of the peak are not steep as such.
    The drive I think is all about how far you can. There is no mention anywhere if there is any drive way till the peak, but what I guess is that, till a point near to the peak, one can safely drive.
    I don't think going there is restricted any more. As there are even conducted tours reaching the peak. So, it is very unlikely that it is closed. But yes, there might be seasons, when tourists might not be allowed because of the wildlife reservation.

    You took the road from Munnar towards Gundumlai and then till where did u drive? from where did u start to treck? are the trails marked?. Im planning to go there, thus gathering information.
