The nearest airport is Mangalore. One can use the roadways either from Mangalore or from Bangalore. By road, the distance from Bhatkal to Murudeshwara is 16 km, and from Mangalore, it is 180 km on National Highway 17. From Bangalore, it is 424 km.
Buses and taxis plying between Bhatkal, Honnavar and Gokarna, will also take you to Murudeshwara beach. Alternatively, you can take your own vehicle from Mangalore or hire one in Bhatkal. Parking space is also available at the resort.Climate at Murudeshwara beach:
The climate at Murudeshwara beach is pleasant throughout the year. The monsoon is from June to October. According to local lore, the Murudeshwara Linga emerged when Ravana dropped the cloth covering the Athmalinga at Gokarna, when he tried to extricate it. This cloth is said to have fallen on the hillock called Kanduka Parvatha and called Mrideshwara.
The old temple is completely renovated now. The granite-cum-RCC building is built in Dravidian style with a lofty gopura and shikara.
