Review of Hotel Palace Plaza, Mysore
We stayed in Hotel Palace Plaza for two nights during our last visit to Mysore. Since we all loved our stay there, I decided to create a separate review about the hotel.
After our bad experience in another hotel and a sleepless night in Mysore, we started looking for better hotels for our stay during rest of our visit in Mysore. Early morning, I went around looking for places for breakfast and hotel. After walking around for about 30 minutes, which doubled as my morning exercise, I landed in front of Hotel Palace Plaza and their restaurant "Dynasty".
First I went to the Dynasty Restaurant, had a cup of Tea and it was great. Even though I ordered only a Tea, the staff in the restaurant were very friendly and cordial.
After the morning tea, I went to the hotel reception. It looked far different from the previous hotel. The staff was very friendly and respectful. I enquired about the room rent and availability. They had only 2 rooms available but offered us about 30% discount from the published rates since most probably those rooms won't be filled for that night. (I offered them to blog about their hotel, so they offered me a free extra bed for the child and free upgrade to a bigger room.)
TRAVEL TIP: You would get a big discount if you walk in to any hotels in Mysore, but you will be at risk just in case all rooms are full.
Hotel Palace Plaza turned out to be an excellent place for stay in Mysore. Rent was bit high compared to the low rates we got at the previous hotel but the stay was very comfortable. Due to the bad experience previous night, we did not have much expectations, but we all loved the new place. They have a restaurant called "Dynasty", which served very tasty food for us, looked very clean and have very friendly staff.

The food in Dynasty was excellent and very tasty. The have a pretty big menu and they would even make some custom orders like your choice of sandwich. Kids ate sandwich in the morning and we ordered some some traditional idly and dosa. It was really great food which made us come to the same restaurant for food couple of time during our visit in Mysore.
After our visit to the Mysore Zoo, we came back to Dynasty for lunch. We ordered some Chinese and Indian dishes. The chicken Manchurian was excellent. (We ate the best chicken Manchurian in the Indian restaurants in USA and not in India!) The fried rice was one of the best chicken fried rice we ever ate. The quality was also pretty large for all the dishes. Price was also very reasonable.
There are many other restaurants nearby. We tried couple of other restaurants in Mysore including the Jungle theme restaurant at Hotel Pai Vista. It was lot of fun for the kids to watch the Forest style atmosphere in the jungle style restaurant. Hotel Pai Vista is a higher class but more expensive hotel than Hotel Palace Plaza, but the jungle theme restaurant there is worth the visit.My review of Hotel Palace Plaza
My overall review on the Hotel Palace Plaza is "Excellent". We enjoyed our stay in the hotel. Even though we were planning to leave the hotel next day, we extended the stay one more night since we wanted to relax another day in Mysore and possibly see few more places before we return to Bangalore. Also, the comfortable stay at Hotel Palace Plaza also influenced us in making the decision to stay one more day.
The staff at Hotel Palace Plaza were very friendly and professional. They never forgot to greet us in a very casual manner each time they see us. Formal greeting by the staff always make us uncomfortable and make us feel they are doing it for Tips, but that was not the case here.
Rooms at Hotel Palace Plaza
The room was very clean and was well maintained. It was large enough for our 5 member family (including 3 kids). There were sofa, chairs, TV and so on. Bath room was very clean and looked fresh. Plenty of hot water was there all day. Staff was on call all the day. Food was served in the rooms or we could walk in to the restaurant.

I strongly recommend this hotel for visitors to Mysore if you are looking for decent hotels at affordable rates. I am sure you can find much better hotels if you are ready to pay much higher.

Hotel Palace Plaza is a very good hotel and is in a good location too. Very close to many attractions and restaurants. But Rs 1,800 per night is very costly. You can find other hotels at a much cheaper rate.
