Review of Maizons Lakeview Resort, Goa
If you are looking for a budget hotel in Goa, read our experience in this hotel. We recently visited Goa and stayed in Maizons Lakeview Resort and here is my comprehensive review.
We visited Goa in September 2014, along with a large group of people from our church in Kerala. It was primarily a pilgrimage to the Bom Jesus Church but we visited many beaches and other places of interest too. I will talk about those places in another article but in this review, I am going to focus on Maizons Lakeview Resort where we stayed for a day and night.
We found Maizons Lakeview Resort by searching on internet and after reading a few reviews in Tripadvisor. There were several options but we wanted a big place where a group of 200 people could be accommodated in the same property. I'm not sure what exactly is the definition of a resort but I would call Maizons a budget hotel and not a resort. The management may have several reasons to call it a "Resort". For example, it has a large lake within the property. However, other than giving some refreshment to your eyes, you really can't get access to the lake. It is not well maintained. They could have done a lot better with that natural lake, like, boating, walking trails around it etc. 
Facilities - Swimming Pool, Party hall, Wine shop, Restaurant
Maizons Lakeview Resort is spread across a large area and have some minimal landscaping. They could have done a lot better with the available facilities.
Swimming pool: The pool is pretty big and clean. There is regular maintenance done and it is conveniently located near the main lobby. If you have kids in the group, they will really enjoy the pool. It is hard to find hotels or resorts with a pool unless you are ready to pay a big amount.
Restaurants: They claim to have 2 restaurants - one facing the pool and another one in the middle of their own Lake. However, I could not find any restaurants by the lake. May be they had an old one there which is no longer operating. I saw some old buildings, which could have been a restaurant in the past. The only restaurant that is operational is by the pool, which provides decent food at affordable cost. There are no other restaurants in the nearby area.
Wine shop: Just like many other resorts and hotels in Goa, there is one wine shop within the property, which is at the main entrance itself. A large number of alcoholic products including brandy, whisky, Gin, Rum, Beer and Wine are on the display, which may look very seductive to the visitors. However, old people and families may find it a bit disturbing to see such an alcohol shop right in the entrance with a lot of bottles on the display.
Scenic surroundings: The large lake and other natural water bodies surrounding the hotel offers lot of scenic views from all the bed rooms. Here is a view from our room in the hotel:

Accessibility: Maizons Lakeview Resort is located a bit far from shopping places and other busy area. If you like silent natural surroundings, this is good place for you but if you are expecting lot of shopping areas and quick access to the town, you may be disappointed. There are absolutely no shops nearby except a few bars, hotels, resorts etc. You won't find any place to get some snacks or food. The wine shop within the hotel sells chocolates, biscuits, snacks, soft drinks etc. There is a Taxi office in front of the hotel. You can book cars, scooters etc there itself.
Buildings and Rooms: One of the good things is, they do not have any high rise buildings. The hotels are built in the form of apartments with 3-4 storeys in each block. 
There is no elevator/lift and if it is difficult for you to use stairs, insist on the ground floor or first floor. Our room was located in the 4th floor and we found it extremely difficult to reach there. I wish they had elevator to access the top floors.
The building is a bit old. I am not sure how old it is but I think it must be at least 15 years old. We went during non-season and lot of maintenance work was going on. 
Room Tariff
The tariff displayed in their official website looks a bit on the higher end and is probably not worth. However, you will get much cheaper rates if you go through third party vendors. I have seen the same hotel listed for less than Rs 1,500 per night stay. Considering the fact that hotels in Goa are very expensive, this place is worth if you can get a room in Rs 1,500 price range.Review of Maizons Lakeview Resort

If budget is a constraint for you and you don't care about some travelling to reach places of interest, then Maizons resort is a good choice to stay in Goa. But if you are looking for a real resort to fill your vacation with fun in Goa, then I would recommend you lookout for better places to stay.
