UB City is a luxury skyline shopping mall located in the heart of Bangalore city. This skyrise building is standing tall on Vittal Mallya Road and Kasturba Road and is visible from very far. Spread in about 13 acres of land, this tall tower is one of the largest and tallest commercial project in Bangalore, India. This prestigious project of Dr.Vijay Mallya, chairman of UB Group, consists of 4 towers and include luxury shopping, office space, restaurants and serviced apartments.
If you are looking for luxury shopping including watches, ornaments, jewelry, bags, suites, home decorations etc, UB City could be the right place. Generally, all items you can shop in UB City are expensive and are not really meant for middle class. You can find most of the luxury brands of watches including Omega, Rado etc. Some of the watches we looked were priced above 3 lakhs Indian Rupees.Restaurants in UB City, Bangalore
There are few restaurants and fast foods in the UB City. Rajdhani offers traditional Indian food, but if you are looking for typical Indian food like dosa and idly, you will be disappointed. American fast foods like sandwiches and salads are available at the Subway. There are other choices like Mediterranean Cuisine, Authentic Chinese food, contemporary European casual food etc. Number of restaurants and choices are limited compared to other Malls in Bangalore. Price was reasonable and taste of food was not bad. If you are really looking for the best places to eat, you can probably find better places in Bangalore. (Rice Bowl at Lavelle Road behind the UB City is one of our favorite eat out places in Bangalore for last 10 years)
There is a nice chocolate lounge in the first floor where you can see really mouthwatering cakes and chocolates. A piece of cake at the chocolate shop was Rs 175 + tax.
Most of the people you can meet in UB City are either young IT professionals, business executives and foreigners.
Parking charges in UB City, Bangalore
Parking is not free. In fact, they have displayed it everywhere saying "Pay and Park". The parking charges are Rs 30 for first 2 hours, Rs 50 for 4 hours and Rs 200 for 12 hours. After 12 hours, you will be charged Rs 100 per hour, which sounds ridiculous! If you park your car for a full day, you will pay Rs 1400!Great place for a family outing
We have been visiting various malls in Bangalore with kids. We could not enjoy most of the places due to the crowd in the shopping malls. The Forum mall in Koramangala is one of the places we cannot stop ourselves from visiting, but return as quickly as possible since we cannot even walk freely there due to the crowd. If you are looking for a shopping mall to spend some time with your family and kids, UB City could be an ideal place for you. Since everything is expensive including parking, food and shopping, you will not see a big crowd there. There is plenty of open space to sit, eat and relax. They have some place for music, concert etc, which is a great place to forget everything else and spend some time under the open sky, listening to music. The walls inside the mall are decorated with beautiful paintings and will make you feel you are in a different world. UB City is very clean and well maintained. You will not see trash and papers thrown everywhere.
In short, UB City shopping mall is a great place in Bangalore city for an evening outing and to enjoy your time with family or friends.
Carry a camera with you when you visit UB City shopping mall and you will not be disappointed.
