Location & History of Mahakaleshwar Temple:

Mahakaleshwar Temple is located in Ujjain city of Madhya Pradesh and the famous city of India. Also, this is famous for the Kumbh festival. Also, Lord Krishna completed his studies in Ujjain along with his elder brother Balrama in the Ashram of Sandipani Muni Ashram situated in Ujjain.

Here we can see Bhasamarti. If you want to take part in bhasam arti then you should need to register your self at least one day advance.

If you want to see all the main temples of Ujjain then you can take a Taxi of Auto and fix the consolidated fare to see all the main temples and then you can see main temples within two days and if your want to see all the temples then you must have at least 3-4 days.

How to visit:

Ujjain city is connected with Rail / Road from all the major cities of India. The nearest airport is Indore approximately 50 km and Bhopal. From Delhi, Mumbai, Bhopal many trains available. One can take New Delhi - Bhopal Shatabdi - up to Bhopal and then take a shared taxi from Bhopal or take the bus from Bhopal to reach Ujjain. Also direct train from Delhi (H.Nizamuddin Railway Station) to Ujjain named Intercity-Express available daily and it leaves approximated 10:15 PM and reach Ujjain in Morning.

Where to Stay:

In Ujjain; various Dharamshala are available and I always stayed in Hotel and the same are available of all range. If you bargain then you can get a room near Mahakal Temple at Rs. 400 - 500 per night.

Where to Eat:

In Ujjain; there are many joints of food according to taste; As it is a holy place; I always avoid non - veg here and eat locally made food. One famous local dish named "Sabudana Khichri" is also available in Ujjain near the temple of Mahakaleshwar. According to my experience; if we demand food other then their local food we will never get a real taste; only local food always comes fresh and real taste.

Local Conveyance:

Taxi, Auto Rickshaws, Cycle Rickshaws are also available.
