Dream Land Spices Park - An ideal place for fun and activities at Munnar

We recently visited the Dream Land Spices Park in Munnar. It's a fun place with lot of activities and rides to keep the entire family busy all day along. Read more about Dream Land and our review of this fun park.

Munnar, one of the best tourist destinations in Kerala, is not really known for adventure sports. But if you are keen on some high energy activities in the lap of the nature, you won't be disappointed. Dream Land Spices Park is a place with full of energy and fun. It's an activity park setup in a tea plantation with lot of fun rides and activities to keep the entire family busy all day.

Our visit to Dream Land

When we visited Munnar last time, Dream Land was not in our itinerary at all. However, we couldn't resist our driver-cum-guide Mr. Johnychettan's recommendation to check out this place. And it was worth the visit.

The park is located near Anachal, a little off the main road from Adimali to Munnar. There is ample parking space in front of the park. Our driver dropped us in front of the ticket counter. We were greeted by the staff in front of the counter and also he explained us the rides they offer. There was drinking water and also the toilets below the ticket counter (sort of basement).

The parking area and ticket counter are on the highest elevation of the park. After buying the tickets, we were guided to go down through the landscape for the activities. Once we exit from the ticket counter, we will see the beautifully landscaped tea plantation.

Rope climbing

Rope way

If you don't want to walk all the way down to reach the place where most of the activities are arranged, you may take the rope-way to go down. In fact, more than a transportation to go down, the rope way is arranged as a ride for fun. You can use the rope-way only to go down and the only option to come back is by trekking.

Spice garden

I'm not sure why they call this place a spice garden. According to various reviews I read and also based on the information in their website, they have a lot of spices there. However, I didn't see much of the spices. May be I didn't look enough to find them since I was busy enjoying the rides.

Camel safari

The Dream Land was originally a spice plantation and the park was started as an elephant safari centre. Eventually, they had to close down the elephant safari due to legal issues but the owner chose to convert it into an adventure park. Currently, there are no elephant safari in the park but there are camel safaris if you are keen on getting a ride on the back of an animal.

Activities and fun

There are several other activities and fun. My favorites are rope climbing, suspension bridge, offroad cycling through the tea plantation, swing walk, ladder climbing and Bungee Trampoline. There were lot of kids and teenagers running everywhere enjoying every single ride in Dream Land.

My review of Dream Land

It's a good place to hang out with family and friends for 4-5 hours. The park is in a beautiful location, especially the tea plantation on the natural landscape. There are lot of tall trees, a few natural ponds and places ideal for trekking. One disappointment is, majority of the rides are of the same or similar category - climbing/walking on trees/ladders/strings. Some of the rides/activities are accumulated in a small area, even though the park is spread across several acres of land.

Activities at Dream Land, Munnar

Their rate seems to be on a bit higher end. Rs 600 per person sounds a bit pricey to me.

A major complaint I have is, their toilets near the ticket counter are sort of abandoned stage. They are not clean and are not comfortable to use. A crowded park like Dream Land which makes pretty good money from the huge number of visitors should definitely provide better amenities for the visitors.

Other attractions in Munnar

Dream Land Spices Park is not the only attraction in Munnar. Don't forget to visit places like Anayirangal dam, Eravikulam National Park, Tea Museum, Honey Bee Tree, Rose garden, Dream Land Spices Park etc. Unfortunately, there are no Uber and Ola cabs in Munnar. If you like, you may hire a bike and go around the places yourself. You may not want to miss the Night life as well in the town.

This is interesting. We never know such an adventure park exists close to Munnar. Camel safari in a hill station is..well..an exotic opportunity, I guess. But, I wanted to ask, is this true that many good resorts are now in the adimaly side than in Munnar? Saw a friend's trip to munnar and they actually visited a resort in the interiors of Adimaly, a place called Mankulam with waterfalls in the private property.
