We want to visit Malayattoor for Puthunjayar festival. Can you suggest me some good hotels to stay, with parking facility? We want to leave the car in the hotel and walk to the Kurisumudi. Is there any lodges or hotels in walking distance from Kurisumudy?

Jose,

There is a lodge at Manappattuchira area, which is at the base of the Kurisumudy mountain. However, I am pretty sure this will be fully occupied during the festival season and I don't think they will have any sort of advance booking option during the busy days.

There is another hotel called "Malayattoor Residency" which is between Malayattoor church and Kurisumudy. Both places are at about 1 km distance from this hotel.

There is an economic accommodation facility adjacent to Malayattoor church. This is like dormitory for group accommodation and it is pretty cheap as well.

Can I book a hotel in advance in Malayattoor? How much is the rate for hotels there? is ti cheaper to stay in nearby places?

Antony,

It may not make a difference in the cost whether you stay in Malayattoor or nearby places. However, during festival season, all hotels in Malayattoor will be full and you may not get a room there. So, if your itinerary allows, it is better to stay in the nearby towns like Perumbavoor, Kalady, Angamaly, Kochi Airport area, Chalakudy, Aluva etc. If you are coming by train, get down at Aluva and stay there. If you are coming by flight, you can stay near the Airport itself.

If you are coming by your own vehicle, you may stay in any nearby towns on the way to Malayattoor.
