Ice Skating in Lulu Mall, Kochi

My kids used to enjoy ice skating when they were in USA. Ice skating is a common sports in western countries during winter. We moved to India sometime back but if I ask the kids what they are missing the most, they would still say "snow"!
We lived in Bengaluru for a short period after we returned to India. Bengaluru has a very good ice skating ink in the Mantri Mall, which we used to visit very often (Ice Skating at Bangalore. After moving to Kochi, kids have been eagerly searching for ice skating rinks in Ernakulam area. We recently found Lulu mall has a good ice skating rink.

If you ask us what is most exciting in Lulu mall, no one in our family will agree on one thing. But the kids have no doubt - Sparkys is the place they want to go. We have been to the place a few times and it is definitely a well made rink. According to the official website of the mall, The Sparkys Ice Skating is the only ice skating rink in Kerala.

You know, amusement is relatively expensive. Even a small ride in Sparkys will cost you atleast Rs 100. Ice skating rinks are very expensive to maintain and no wonder they charge pretty high for the same. Rates for ice skating:
30 minutes: Rs 250
1 Hour: Rs 400
They also offer coaching classes for those who are not very comfortable with skating. It is recommended to go during non-peak hours for coaching to avoid accidents.Timing
The skating rink is open from 10am to 1pm everyday. Once they close for lunch break and maintenance, it will reopen at 4pm and remain open till 10pm. Usually, 4pm to 10pm are busy hours. If you choose the morning section on week days, it will be far less crowded. Saturday and Sunday are usually very crowded and is not recommended for people who are trying it the first time.

Only children above 6 years are permitted to use the rink. Also, proper skating gear must be used, which is provided at the rink. You must bring your own socks or you can rent it from there for Rs 30. Beginners can rent a walker (Penguin) for Rs 50. Parents can't leave children for skating and go for shopping. They must remain there and monitor the children while they are skating.
