I just wanted to share the good moments on various rail routes where you can have a real sight seeing and good time pass. This article is mainly on the basis of sight seeing once we visited the major towns by express trains and then to proceed to enjoy the train route which covers entirely the beauty of the western ghats.

Ooty Hill Train route
In Tamil Nadu, there are good rail routes where one can enjoy and I just wanted to share the experience.
One can travel from Mettupalayam to Coonoor by Hill train; gives immense pleasure when that train engine would first push the train from behind. One can enjoy the route as sights are full of natural beauty. But nowadays, because of the engine problems or the rain, the train stops in the middle sometimes. This has a heritage of 100 years. Passenger train from Sengottai to Tirunelveli
This is again a good journey by rail route as this route goes through the midst of western ghats and scenes full of greenery will catch your eyes. We can have a trip to Kalakaad where the world-famous lion faced monkeys are available in the wild life sanctuary.

Passenger train from Madurai to Sengottai
This connects the districts of Madurai, Virudhu Nagar and Tirunelveli. This train has its own tales told by the regular travelers; a number of school, college, office goers and also regular commuters travel on a daily basis. It has a mixture of rural, semi urban and village persons and in a journey of 3 hours, you'll have a good experience with all the above. Also it links many famous temples in Thiruttangal, Srivilliputhur, Sankaran Kovil, Thenkasi and Sengottai. Now it has been extended up to the Tirunelveli town.
Passenger train from Sengottai to Punalur
This train connects the border of Tamil Nadu and Kerala and it is also a gateway for two sides of western ghats. This route is carved on the western ghats and one can really enjoy the trip. It links the famous Ayyappan temple in Ariyankavu and people going to Sabarimalai from Tamil Nadu go up to Sengottai and take this train. But now it has been closed for gauge conversion.
I have just shared my experience here and it can be used by people who are fond of traveling and nature.
A travel by train always fills our heart with joy and thrilling experience. As the train moves faster, the Nature also looks moving opposite to us and words can't be described to share the experience. After going through this article, i recall my journey by train from Chennai to Rameswaram by Pamban express. As we were about to reach Rameswaram, the train suddenly slowed down to cross the Pamban Bridge. The Pamban Bridge connects the town of Rameswaram on Pamban Island to mainland India and is a cantilever (A horizontal beam at one end) bridge on the Palk Strait . It caters for both rail and road but primarily it is known as Pamban rail bridge. It is the second longest bridge over sea route in India. When we pass on through the bridge by train, we enjoy a lot as the tides of the sea roar on us and we can witness the joy shared by the co-passengers.
