KSRTC buses to Munnar

Buses from Aluva railway station to Munnar

Aluva and Angamaly are the nearest railway stations to Munnar. Aluva railway station is located very close to KSRTC bus stand, which is about 200 metres. Unless you have a lot of luggage, you can walk to the KSRTC bus stand from Aluva station.

From the KSRTC bus stand, you may get direct buses to Adimali (a town about 25 km before Munnar) or even to directly Munnar. However, I suggest you take the KURTC low floor A/c bus to Kothamangalam. These low floor buses are air conditioned and the travel is very comfortable, even though they charge a little high compared to other buses. The only disadvantage is, they have a few stops in between compared to the non-stop buses. But it is still worth the ride.

From Kothamangalam bus stand, there are plenty of private and KSRTC buses to Munnar. If you can skip the first bus and wait for the next one, you can get a comfortable seat and ride comfortably.

Trains to Munnar

There is no railway track to Munnar currently. Talks about railway lines connecting the hill stations are in the discussion stage since more than a decade and I don't that will become a reality for another decade or so.

The nearest railway station to Munnar is Aluva and Angamaly stations. Both are at about equal distances but I would recommend Aluva railway station over Angamaly for 2 reasons:

1. There are plenty of hotels in Aluva, just in case you need an overnight stay there.

2. There are a lot of direct buses from Aluva to Munnar. On the other hand, there are no direct buses from Angamaly to Munnar.

3. Aluva is a bigger station, offer more facilities for passengers and also more trains stop there. In Angamaly, express trains do not have a stop.

From Aluva railway station, you can take a taxi or bus to Munnar.
