Thanneerchal Park & Boating, Thripunithura
Thanneerchal Park is a newly open park and entertainment zone in Thripunithura municipality of Kerala. Learn more about this park, admission fees, hours of operation and other details for visitors.
It has been just 2 months since the Thanneer Chaal park was opened in Thirpunithura and I already visited this place 3 times with my kids. There are few things that make this park a week destination for us and hundreds of other residents in Thripunithura and neighbourhood. In fact, this place is more than 10 km distance for us but we think it is worth the drive. What is Thaneerchal project
The Thanneerchal park is developed by Thripunithura municipality in 10 acres of waterbody and 2 acres of adjoining land, with the support of Bharat Petroleum Corporation. Unlike other government projects, this park is well planned, designed and developed. The entire property looks very nice and have ample space for parking, recreation, play and entertainments. Built at a cost of Rs 4.5 crore, this project was opened for public on 12 May 2015.Location
Park is located at Thripunithura in the Ponjassery-Chithrapuzha road. If you are coming in seaport-airport road from Kakkanad, turn left at Ponjassery-Chithrapuzha road towards Karimugal. You will see the park within 200 metres on the left side. It is located next to the "Hill Palace Hotel & Spa", which is the landmark in case you get lost.Admission

Eat & Drink: There are many small small eateries where you can get food, tea/coffee, soft drinks, snacks etc. Our favourite was the fresh Neera, produced by the Kerala government authorities. Even though Neera is available in several other places, they are all packed bottles and not really the real Neera produced by the Kerala government. Here you will get the fresh Neera prepared on the spot using the Neera mix.
Boating: Boating is one of the biggest attractions in the park. In the Thanneer chaal lake spread across about 10 acres of area, you can a very refreshing boat ride. One of the best things about the boats here is, they are all light weight fiber boats, which are relatively easier to pedal. They all have the rain cover roof, which makes the boating possible even on light rains.
Play structures: There are lot of play structures and the kids will enjoy them. Most of the play structures are free to use and kids can safely run around and play all day. Play structures include swings, seesaws, sliders, climbers, spring riders etc.
There are few big trampolines but you need to pay extra to use them. My kids prefer to go to the nearby Decathlon and enjoy the free trampolines when then feel burning off some extra energy!
There is a small pong with water cars. This is a very interesting option for small kids but unfortunately, there is a small extra fee to use them.
Garden, lawn and covered places to sit and relax: There are lot of area covered with green grass and you can walk around or sit and relax. There are couple of covered structures with facilities to sit and talk. We would love to go there and sit with friends and keep talking while the kids enjoy the play structures.
Amphi theatre: They have a pretty well designed amphi theatre in the property. I haven't seen anyone using this one to arrange any programs but it is mostly used by people to sit and talk.
Toilets: There are toilets and wash rooms with basic facilities. It is worth mentioning since most of the other parks including the big Subhash Park in Ernakulam don't have proper toilets for public use. Nearby parks and attractions:
There are 3 public parks in Kakkand, just a few kilometers from Thripunithura. Two of them are very new but none of them are as big as Thanneer Chaal and don't have play structures or facilities like this.
If you are into Thripunithura from far and like to make the best out of your visit, you can visit Hill Palace Museum, which is about 2 km from this park.
Visited Kochin and the relative is staying in Choice Paradise near Tripuntura. This is the park i recall my niece was taken to. Atleast your authorities are building parks and is safer compared to from where I come. Is Tripuntura a sedentary region of Cochin? I find no urban lifestyle there compared to central business district?
