A trip to Kuruva islands

It was a planned trip so we made all preparations for the trip to Kuruva islands accordingly. Booking your trip with one of the best resorts in Wayanad will help you enjoy a lot of scenic wonders in Wayanad other the Kuruva island. The before night we have seen the images of Kuruva islands on the internet and we slept talking about this place. As we have seen the images in net we were very excited to see this place in reality. We have reached the destination at around 10 am and there was paid parking facility for our vehicles. After taking entry tickets we went inside and they asked us to wait for raft which was made with bamboos. The staff thoroughly checked our bags and told us not to carry any plastic items to the islands and I noticed that the surrounding was very clean as they are promoting ecotourism. To enter the main area of islands, first, we should cross a wide stream of the river and almost a kilometre walk through the green forest area.

Islands

We were waiting for the raft to come to the stage where we were standing. It is a big raft made with bamboos can accommodate almost 15 to 20 persons at a time and they provided life jackets for our safety. It was a nice feeling to cross the river on a raft and we crossed the river safely. On the way, there were many sitting arrangements beautifully made with bamboos. Here and there we have seen bridges where we took photographs. We have seen small to huge trees with labelling their scientific names and common names on them. At regular intervals, we can notice display boards with good and informative messages about nature. After a kilometre walk, we reached the beautiful main area of Kuruva islands and it was very rejuvenating and serene feeling. We felt that we are so close to nature. There we have seen many islands and crossed them one by one through the running water. It was not easy to go one island to another as the flow of water was forceful and the stones under water were slippery, but it was very adventurous and happiest moments. We played in water nearly 2 hours and took many photos, then came back with hungry in the stomach and full happiness in mind.

Tips to visit Kuruva islands

Keep a towel and extra dress with you so that you can change dress after playing in the water. It is better to carry food as there are not many hotels available near Kuruva islands. Do not carry any plastic items like bottles and carry bags as they are strictly prohibited in that area. Use life jackets compulsorily while crossing the river on a raft as the river is very deep and dangerous. Though there is adequate staff to help us, we have to take our own precautionary measures.

The author has presented a nice spot for a quick visit if one is visiting Manathvady which again is a nice tourist place. The beauty of the delta seems to have remained intact till now mostly due to the difficulty in reaching the place as the waterways is the only way of reaching.
The snaps given by the author are enough to attract one to the location. Nice work Niya.

Thanks for your response. It is correct that the difficulty in reaching Kuruva islands keeps the place natural and the forest department also plays an important role. Many forest guards are always checking the surroundings not only for maintaining the naturality of the place but also to assure our safety.
