The Nehru zoological park is one of the main attractions in Hyderabad, Telangana. It is a place worth visiting as there are varieties of animals and different types of safari trips which are thrilling and adventurous. The Nehru zoological park is named after our first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru and it was opened for public on October 6, 1963. The zoo area is spread over about 380 acres and more than 1000 animals can be found in the Nehru zoological park. It is a well maintained zoo in India and a plastic free zone. Previously, there was a facility to use one's own vehicle to roam inside the park, but it is stopped now due to security reasons. There are eco-friendly vehicle rides available and bicycles are available for rent to the tourists to visit different areas of the zoo park. Main attractions in Nehru zoological park
There are many attractions in the zoo and I personally enjoyed the safari trips and the nocturnal house. This Zoo maintains many varieties of animals and birds. This zoo is also house to many reptiles like different types of snakes and variety of lizards. Huge varieties of birds are also present in this zoo. The White Tiger is one of the main attractions of this zoo. One more attraction of this zoo is many different species of nocturnal animals and birds can be seen from close. Huge Elephants, Giraffes, Hippopotamus, Rhinoceros, Deers, Bears, Lions and other animals are also present in this zoo.
There is a white tiger which is very attractive and everyone likes to spend time watching this tiger. Another attraction is a naughty sloth bear, which was very active and was entertaining us by swimming and playing in the water. The bird zone also is very beautiful in the Nehru zoological park.
During the safari trip, we saw tigers, lions and bears very nearly and it was highly adventurous for me with a lot of fear and anxiety. Tips to visit the Nehru Zoological Park
The entire area of the Nehru zoological park is plastic free and there is fine and punishment if you carry any plastic items. Some animals are dangerous and the tourists should follow the guidelines without failure. Feeding animals by tourists is prohibited here. There are some tea shops or bakeries inside the zoo and you can get food from there. Do not harm or tempt any animals in the zoo. The timings of the Nehru zoological park are not same throughout the year. April to June - the timing is from 8 am to 5.30 pm and from July to March, it is 8.30 am to 5 pm. The zoo is closed on Mondays.
Ticket fare
The entry fee of the Nehru zoological park is Rs. 20 for adults and 10 for children. There is a train ride or bicycle ride; you can choose according to your interests and for train ride the ticket fare is Rs. 15 for adults and Rs. 5 for children. Nearby tourist attractions
Hussain Sagar, Golkonda Fort, Charminar, Salar Jung museum, Birla temple are the nearest tourist attractions and there are many other tourist attractions in the city of Hyderabad.
