Bhimashankar - A Visit to the Holy Place in Maharashtra, India

Bhima Shankar is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of India. It is one of the old places to visit in Maharashtra. Very nice place to visit and get worship of Lord Shiva. On the way also, you can enjoy nature, especially in monsoon season.

There is 12 Jyotirlinga in India which are very much important and holy places with Shiva temples. All Hindus wish to visit all 12 once in a lifetime. One of the 12 is located near Pune in Maharashtra state called Bhimashankar located on a hill and in between nature.

I visited Bhima Shankar a small place in Maharashtra. It is almost 200 Km far from Pune and road is too narrow and dangerous so It takes almost 5 hours to reach there. Required to be careful in driving in this area too dangerous. If possible try to avoid a self-drive hire trained driver who has experience of these kinds of driving.

Bhima Shankar is one of the twelve Jyotirlinga.

It is a holy place and old temple of Lord Shiva.

This place is a very small village and mainly people visited this place for the temple and to get worship of Lord Shiva.

When we reach there you have to park your vehicle and walk to reach there.
The temple is downstairs and steps are too big and almost 400 steps you have to go down to reach the temple.

In the temple, there is an arrangement of a big queue and you have to wait for your turn mainly in festival time and on Monday you have to wait for almost 5 to 6 hours for your turn.
Main temple part where is the load Shiva statue is there is small and not more than 6 to 7 people can enter at a time.

There is gold coated flat shape of same as statue covered to original one always to save it from water and milk and to save it from destroying.
People offer milk and water to Lord Shiva.
In a day 15 minutes, they remove the artificial cover from the main statue for clean up and that is the main time to visit the temple.

I was lucky for the same as I reached there at the same time 12 pm at the noon. time is 12 to 12.15 pm for the same.
Also, don't forget to take prasad and offer to Lord Shiva. The most famous are hot and fresh peda which is made from milk and mava(thick sugar added cow milk processed ) too good in taste.

It is a lovely holy place and the way to it also too good with trees around and hills.
Main season to visit is monsoon so you can enjoy nature also.
In monsoon really you love the way to this place with full of fog on the way. yes, you required almost 6 to 7 hours to reach there in monsoon.

Better to reach early in the morning to avoid the rush in the temple. But it is important to be there until noon as afternoon aarti is an important part of the visit.
In a temple, trust appointed gears are available to offer you different kind of pooja on chargeable basis.
Just see the way of doing pooja and after that only decide for the same.

I must say if you believe in Lord Shiva then it is important to visit all jyotirlinga of India and this is one of the same so must visit.
