Palampur- A beautiful tourist destination in Kangra


If we talk of beautiful places in Himachal, none is less beautiful than the other. Each and every district, tehsil, town or village in Himachal has its own uniqueness and specialty. Palampur, in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh is one of such beautiful places.

Adding stars to the beauty of the Kangra district in Himachal pradesh is, Palampur-The City Beautiful.Palampur is a beautiful hill station which is located in the northwestern region of Kangra valley under the foothill of splendid DhaulaDhar range. Palampur has got its name from the word Pulum which means "Plenty of water".The Palampur is famous ion Himachal for its beauteous tea gardens.Tea was introduced here by British.But today the tea of these gardens is world famous.And that's why Palampur is also known as the Tea capital of North India.Tea gardens not only the source of good capital for the locals.But they also add to the scenic beauty of the town.

Palampur is my birh place and I feel proud to be the part of this heavenly place because of it's pleasant weather conditions.The weather is moderate here.And I think that those who have not yet visited the town must make a trip.

The most famous tourist resort of Palampur is Neugal cafe,which has been established near the streams of Neugal Khad located near Bundla Mata temple.

Palampur also provides the glorious view of mountains covered with snow.And is a great spot for Hand gliding and trekking.

Palampur is also renowned for its temples.The famous temples are:-

Chamunda Devi Temple, Kangra


Chamunda Devi temple which is dedicated to Goddess Chamunda is just 25km from the Palampur.And provides the glorious view of the mountains covered with snow. Chamunda Devi temple is one of the most famous temples in Himachal. The architecture of the temple is really fantastic. Thousands of worshipers come here every year.

Baijnath Temple, Palampur


Baijnath is 8km away from Palampur.Which is known for the temple of Lord Shiva built by Pandvas. Shivaratri, the festival of Lord Shiva is celebrated in Baijnath temple in a beautiful manner. Baijnath temple is beautifully decorated with flowers on the day of Shivaratri.

Andretta Village in Palampur


Its beautiful village 13km from Palampur under the wood hill. It was once the home of famous painter Shobha singh.

One can easily reach Palampur by bus.However one can also reach the hill station by train.The railway staion is at Maranda which is 2km from Palmpur.There is no airport in Palampur.But nearby airport is in Gaggal few kms from the town.

Nice blog. What about the staying options at Palampur? I prefer to stay at least 7 days in beautiful places like Palampur/Kangra to enjoy nature. So let us all know about the long duration staying options there.
