At Doddamakali, the River Kaveri collects into a large pool and the water is almost devoid of currents due to the stillness. This makes it perfectly ideal for water-sports.
Doddamakali Fishing and Nature camp is the remotest of the three Cauvery fishing camps. Doddamakali Fishing and Nature Camp is around 85 Kms. from Mysore via Malavalli and 132 Kms. from Bengaluru city. The Doddamakali Fishing and Nature camp. is a paradise for Bird watchers. How ever the giant Mahseer fish is the main attraction of the waters of River Cauvery at this place.

You can see two species of Mahseer fish at this Cauvery fishing camp, namely, the Tor Khudree and Tor Mussullah. You can also spot the common fish, carp fish, cat fish and crocodiles easily. There are eight twin-bedded and spacious tented cottages provided by Karnataka tourism dept. with attached bath rooms. But there is no electricity at this place. You will be provided with few hurricane lamps or solar lamps. This place provides absolute privacy and senenity for the visitors and adventure lovers.
Excellent facilities are provided by the Karnataka tourism department. Mouth watering and delicious vegetarian and non vegetarian food is served in the tented cottages. The price for tented cottages of K.T.D.C is around Rs.2000 which includes Stay, Lunch, Dinner & breakfast, Coracle Ride, Joy Fishing, Guided Trekking, Forest Entry Fees, Camera Fees & Taxes etc.
