Brain Museum at NIMHANS in Bengaluru
A complete different kind of museum is setup in Bangalore city, at the NIMHANS hospital called "Brain Museum".
A complete different kind of museum has been setup in the Bangalore city by NIMHANS hospital around 1995 with support of the central government's Department of Science and Technology, Department of Biotechnology and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) to promote research in Neurobiology using human nervous tissues.
NIMHANS has about 300 of brain repository present at the "Brain Museum". These brains are kept in formalin-filled jars. These brains are collected in order to carry on research who are in the field of neurosciences, for the study of neurological, neurosurgical and psychiatric disorders.
Not only the museum display "brain of human being", but also has displayed form of brain reaction or functioning during different moods. The museum also display complete details about the brain like anatomy, physiology, psychology, psychiatry, neurology and neurosurgery.
In order to make it public and also educate children, all aged groups who could know the functioning of the brain which is still a mystery for many scientists. In this museum, you will see different kinds of brain and problems. A single brain can be preserved for 20 years and every year NIMHANS add more to their repository.
The Neuropathology Museum is open to public only on Saturdays from 10 a.m to 3p.m at NIMHANS. IF you would like donate your brain and then you can sign a pledge as donor.
