Savana Durga, A Trekking Paradise near Bengaluru

One of the best placing for trekking is SavanaDurga Hills situated not very far from Bangalore city. This was a location for the making of David Lean's movie Passage to India. The hill rises to 1226 m above mean sea level. SavanaDurga is situated on Magadi Road.

SavanaDurga is situated on Magadi Road. It is around 70 km from Bangalore City. Magadi Road is also known as a State Highway, but not up to mark.
How to reach to SavanaDurga Hills
Savana Durga is located on the Magadi Road which is also known as State Highway 17E. Once you have reached about 50km , you will start seeing the monolithic rock structure.
Take a left turn from the highway and travel another 12 km before making another left turn to travel 3 km. At the end of that 3 km stretch, you will find SavanaDurga.

There is no fees or permission required to reach the place. It is open tourist spot for all visitor who like to trek or spend some leisure time in the nature with their families in the weekend.
If you are not trekker and like to reach the top of the hill, you will just need to shell out small amount of about Rs. 50-100 for the young boys who will guide you to the top of the hills. It is easy to go with the marking and indication provided for how to reach the temple, if you would like to go without guide.

It is monolithic rock and with temple and fort on the top of the hill. The temple is dedicated to Sri Basaveswara, Narshimhaswamy and Sri Veerabhadrawamy with devotees coming every day.
