Shivanasamudra is one of the most beautiful waterfalls you can find in South India. The Kaveri River gets bisected by the rocky terrains of the deccan plateau leading to two twin waterfalls by the name of Gaganachukki and Bharachukki. Gaganachukki forms the western branch while Bharachukki forms the eastern branch. Both the falls are equally beautiful. One can enjoy the scenic beauty of Gaganachukki from the watch tower.
You can see the gushing flow of water amidst the rocks. Though there isn't any approved path to see this fall more closely, many people climb down the rocks in an attempt to view the waterfalls from behind/top. These are too risky, as the rocks are slippery, resulting in many fatal accidents. Close to this falls one can see the hydro electric project which is still functional. Further 5km down, you can catch the beautiful Bharachukki falls.
The roads leading to this fall isn't that great and there is a stretch of around 500 meters where you can hardly go above 10kmph.You can park your vehicle on the top and walk down to see the falls more closely. The steps are very steep (close to 100) and rocky. It isn't advisable for the elderly people, as climbing back would be really difficult once you reach the bottom there are boat rides (parisal) to the main waterfall.
