In Seventeenth Century, There was a ruler known as Raja Jai Singh. He had a palace, Jaisinghpura Palace which is now known as Gurudwara Bangla Sahib.

In 1664, many people suffered from epidemic diseases in Delhi. During this time, Guru Har Krishan (The Eighth Sikh Guru) was residing in Jaisinghpura Palace and he served the suffered people by helping them.

In 1783, the Sikh General, Sardar Bhagel Singh built a Gurudwara in this palace, now known as Gurudwara Bangla Sahib. Sikhs believe that the water of the well of this Gurudwara has disease healing properties.

There is a kitchen in the Gurudwara in which the food for Langar is prepared. Inside the Gurudwara Bangla Sahib campus, there is a large pond, a School an Art Gallery, a Library, a Museum and a Hospital.

All visitors are required to cover their head and remove their shoes while entering Gurudwara Bangla Sahib premise.
