Now the latest news regarding Pakhal Wildlife sanctuary is that the Andhra Pradesh Forest Department will be initiating a week long tiger and panther census in this sanctuary starting from 1 May 2012. Apart from this Pakhal Wildlife sanctuary, the other locations to be covered includes Eturnagaram Wildlife Sanctuary of Warangal district, Kawal Wildlife Sanctuary of Adilabad district, Kinnerasani wildlife sanctuary of Khammam district, Papikonda and Chintalapally apart from Srisailam tiger reserve and Sri Venkateswara wildlife sanctuary Tirupati. The best time to visit this Pakhal Wildlife Sanctuary is November to June. If you are interested to visit this Pakhal Wildlife sanctuary, then accommodation facilities are available at PWD rest house, Sulurpet.

Pakhal Wildlife sanctuary is a great tourist place where anyone can enjoy the beauty of nature. The evergreen as well as deciduous vegetation of this forest area includes shrubs, dense bushes, Aegele marmelos, Mallotus philippensis, Adina cordifolia, Bombax ceiba, Bridelia retusa, Cleistanthus collinus, Cochlospermum religiosum, Emblica officinalis, Dalbergia latifolia, Garuga pinnata, Flacourtia indica and many more. Apart from this, you can see migratory birds, black buck, leopard, sambhar, nilgai, spotted deer, tiger, panther, leopard, sloth bear, wild boar and four horned antelope.

How to reach Pakhal Wildlife sanctuary?


Pakhal Wildlife sanctuary is located on Narsampet-Warangal division, which is at a distance of 50km from Warangal, where the nearest railway station is situated. But if you are coming from Hyderabad by road, this sanctuary is located at a distance of 130km.
