Nagarhole National Park is located at Kodagu and Mysore districts border, literally Nagara means snake and Hole means streams. This sanctuary was formed in the year 1955, which has a dense forest area and found many natural habitats here and due to the increase in such habitats this sanctuary was expanded in the year 1975, this sanctuary was a wild animals park for earlier rulers of Mysore, the green vegetation is large, abundant water resources and one can see many swamps and hence this sanctuary was declared as a reserve forest.Nagarhole National Park - Wildlife population
The Nagarhole National Park, can find wide varieties of wild animals here like four horned antelope, jungle cat, sloth bear, elephant, spotted deer, civet, wild dog, tiger, flying fox, gaur, wild boar, sambhar, bonnet macaque, black napped hare and also pangolin and many more which also includes other species like kraits, crocodiles, cobras vipers and large sized lizards.
Around 250 species of birds are found here at Nagarhole National Park, among them common babbler, bee eater, dove, bulbul, hornbill, crested serpent, Malabar pied, alexandrine, woodpecker, peacock, warbler, eagles, great Indian reed, golden back parakeet, crested hawk and southern tree pie etc.Nagarhole National Park – Wildlife Safari

After visiting this place another place called Brahmagiri mountains which is a beautiful trekking place can also be visited, but for trekking the advance permission is required.

The predominant vegetation at the Nagarhole National Park is tropical, moist and majority of portion is dry type few rare species of trees can also be seen here like Tectonia grandis, Terminalia tomentosa, Dalbergia latifolia, Pterocarpus marsupium, Adina cordifolia, Anogeissus latifolia, Lagerstroemia lanceolata, Schleichera trijuga, Boambax malabaricum and others. It also contains some canopies.
The vegetation is predominant here at this park and it is tropical, moist and most of the portion is dry type, few trees and plants can be seen here are Kydia calycina, Gmelina arborea Emblica officinalis etc other types of shrubs like Solanum, Desmodium and Helicteres are found in large quantities and mainly like Eupatorium and Lantana are in large.Nagarhole National Park - How to reach
