Review of Hotel PGS Vedanta, Kochi

I recently visited Hotel PGS Vedanta, Kochi and would like to share my review here. Read more about my experience and review at Hotel PGS Vedanta, Kochi.

I have been living in Kochi but was never satisfied with any hotels I tried for conducting interviews and official conferences for various clients. Recently, I reviewed Hotel PGS Vedanta in Kochi, which I found to be an excellent business hotel in town which are ideal for conferences, overnight stays, birthday parties, conducting interviews etc. Read my experience in June 2016 and find out what makes PGS Vedanta an excellent business hotel in Kochi.

I reached the hotel in the afternoon and entered the hotel through the main gate facing the highway (NH 47). The highway was pretty busy with the peak time traffic but once I entered the hotel, it was a calm and pleasant atmosphere with a lot of greenery around, that clearly makes this hotel distinguished from the surroundings.

The entrance and the lobby was pretty appealing and looked very suitable to meet and greet any domestic or foreign clients. There was no complicated security check or frisking but I was greeted by the smiling staff and was helped to park my car close to the entrance.

Lobby of PGS Vedanta

As I entered the lobby, I could feel a premium star hotel ambiance. There is ample sitting area on one side and there is a restaurant on the left with a very large seating area.

Review of PGS Vedanta

I went through the entire hotel and checked out their rooms, facilities and amenities. Let us take a detailed look.

Veranda in PGS Vedanta

1. Excellent location

The hotel is located along the national highway (NH 47), adjacent to Ernakulam North railway station. The landmark of Kochi ,"Lulu Mall", is about 5 km from here and Kochi international airport is 26 km. The location is one of the key USPs of the hotel. Due to its proximity to the highway, the hotel is accessible any time of day.

PGS Vedanta shares the compound wall the upcoming metro railway station. Once the metro rail is completed, it becomes more easy to reach the hotel from any part of Kochi using the metro rail network.

2. Great ambiance for business meetings

Even the companies which have premium offices usually prefer to conduct clients meetings and conferences in business class hotels to impress the clients. However, many of the business hotels in Kochi are congested and would fail to make the clients happy. If you are looking for a hotel with great ambiance, PGS Vedanta is undoubtedly a great choice. With a completely remodeled building with spacious parking, lobby, verandas and conference rooms, you are sure to impress your clients.

3. Conference rooms, for any size

PGS Vedanta has 2 large conference halls and one board room. The large conference room, located in the top floor, has an excellent view of the metro rail constructions and also a panoramic view of the Kochi city. This conference room can accommodate more than hundred people and is well designed to accommodate hundred+ people without any obstructions.

The other conference room is suitable for birthday parties and small business meets. When I visited the hotel, there was some corporate training sessions going on. There are ample sitting area even outside the conference hall so those who wish to come out and have a phone call or chat wouldn't have to look for a place.

There is a separate board room which can accommodate 10-15 people, ideal for conducting interviews and small meetings.

There is a smoking room for those who wish to have some puff in between the meetings, conveniently located away from the rooms and conference halls.

The rate for conference rooms varies according to the number of people and other parameters but I was told the average rate per head is Rs 550/- to Rs 650/- (+tax). You can use the conference room for the full day and free coffee, snacks and lunch are included in the said rate.

4. Swimming pool

A pool is not very common in mid-range business hotels. I have stayed in many business hotels in Bangalore, Chennai and other places. Except in 5-star hotels and resorts, I have rarely seen a swimming pool in such hotels. PGS Vedanta has a large pool, surrounded by a lot of greenery. If you just want to relax by the pool, there are lot of pool chairs. And pool is one of many facilities here that make this hotel suitable for family stay as well. My kids love to play in the pool and if I am travelling with my family, I make sure I choose a hotel that has a swimming pool. Usually, the hotels that have swimming pools are quite expensive but PGS Vedanta is still in the affordable range.

5. Spa and Ayurverdic Massage

PGS Vedanta has an authentic ayurvedic massage center, spa and steam bath. You can make appointments and enjoy these services at an extra cost.

6. Restaurant with a lot of Indian as well as Chinese choices

The restaurant is very spacious and can accommodate a large number of people. I think the restaurant was designed to accommodate the entire people from the conference rooms. The menu has a good number of choices including traditional Kerala food, authentic Chinese choices and a lot of north Indian dishes.

Buffet is available during week-ends and holidays. The cost for the buffet is Rs 550/- + tax, which include 3 non-veg dishes.

Free breakfast is included for all room bookings. I was told the hotel is pretty flexible on check-in and check-out timings. It's worth mentioning one of my experience in a hotel in Chennai last year. I asked for an early check-in and they happily allowed me. But I wasn't told they will charge me an extra fee for the same. When I got the bill, the early check-in fee was about 85% of the one day room rent.

7. Large rooms with Cozy bed and great ambiance

PGS Vedanta has 3 types of rooms:

1. Deluxe room
2. Executive Room
3. Suite room

I checked all 3 categories of rooms and they all have cozy beds and luxury ambiance. Higher categories have larger rooms and additional chairs/sofa. The suite rooms really have a luxury feeling with its reclining sofas and large rooms. All rooms have a coffee maker. Iron box is available on request in every room.

8. Business centre, free Wi-Fi, computer, printing

Do you need to print a flight ticket or some documents for your meetings? The well maintained business center in PGS Vedanta have you covered. They have computers in the business center which are free to use. And if you need to print some papers, just go ahead and click the print button. Free Wi-Fi is available in all areas of the hotel including the bed rooms.

Overall review of PGS Vedanta

I would rate 5 out of 5 for PGS Vedanta in its category with its facilities and amenities similar to a 4-Star hotel. If you are looking for a premium, yet affordable business hotel in Kochi, go for PGS Vedanta. You won't be disappointed.

Thanks for such an extensive list of hotels and resorts. May be one I would shortlist on my next trips.
