Ganpatipule temple is made out of Sand ( pule in Marathi) and it is said that the idol or the Swayambhu which means self-manifested and not made by a man. The idol here is made of copper and has Ganpati astride a lion in that. The Lord Ganapati here is considered to be the God of the West Coast or Konkan coast and is placed in the Sanctum Sanctorum.
