Ganpatipule is a small town in the Konkan coast, around 380 kilometers from Mumbai city. Ganpatiphule is famous for the Ganapati temple as well as for Ganpatipule Beach which is clean and a pristine beach.

About Ganapati temple at Ganapatipule


Swayambhu Ganapati temple in Ganpatipule is a centuries old temple and known for its unique idol. This is the one of the main places to visit in Ganpatipule. Ganpatipule temple is made out of Sand ( pule in Marathi) and it is said that the idol or the Swayambhu which means self-manifested and not made by a man. The idol here is made of copper and has Ganpati astride a lion in that. The Lord Ganapati here is considered to be the God of the West Coast or Konkan coast and is placed in the Sanctum Sanctorum.

Everyday at Sunrise and sunset sunlight penetrates and illuminates the Ganesh idol.It is said that the Konkan coast people are very devout worshippers of Lord Ganapati and one would not be able to believe the number of worshippers who come to the Ganpatipule temple during the Angar ki Chaturvehi, an auspicious Tuesday every six months.

Places to visit in Ganapatipule


Other than the Ganpatipule temple, Ganpatipule beach is quite popular here. Ganpatipule beach has clear water, clean sand, mangroves and coconut palms all around making it an ideal getaway place during weekends.

If you are planning to travel make it a weekend trip. Book your room early enough to get the reservation done in advance. You may not get good rooms if you go there direct and try to check in at a hotel.
There isn't much to look at except Beach and the temple. Playing , sunbathing and enjoy some private moments with your family are the things you can do here.

How to Reach Ganapatipule


You have to reach Mumbai first to get to Ganapatipule and from there you have to reach Ratnagiri by train or by road. From Ratnagiri you can get buses / cabs to reach Ganapatipule . A Luxury 2x2 seater AC bus is plying in the route.

Food facilities at Ganapatipule


You can have good local food, simple, tasty and spicy all over the place. You can also get Chinese and Punjabi food at some places. If you like you can try them out too. But in places like this it is better to go in for local delicacies at local cuisine restaurants, you can be sure of what you eat.
