Champaner - Pavadgadh Archaeological Park is located around 50 km from Baroda. The archaeological park is located on the foot of the Pavadgadh hill which is the result of the oldest rock formations in India. It's not more than 1 hour drive from Baroda to this site.

The Best Time to Visit Champaner:
Champaner – Pavadgadh Archaeological park can be visited throughout the year, but still the best time to visit this park is from the month of October to June, when the climate is at its best. Summers are usually very warm in Gujarat and hence it is not a real good time to visit this monument.
Entry Fee:
One has to pay an entry fee of Rs.5/- per person to visit this archaeological site. Children can visit this place free of cost.

Champaner - Pavadgadh Archaeological Park is a massive concentration of around historical structures and monuments. One gets to see a largely unexcavated city which must have been built in the late 15th century. There are in all 90 – 100 monuments which include several fortifications, palaces, mosques, residential precincts, agricultural structures and water installations.
The few most visited and a famous structure in this park includes:
Jama Masjid - -Out of the five mosques found within this unexcavated city, one is Jama Masjid which was built by Sultan Mehmad Bagda. It is one of the most remarkable structures with a huge central dome and comprises of around 172 pillars, two minarets and various carved entrance gates.
The Kalikamata Temple – The Kalikamata Temple is one of the most visited sacred pilgrimages in Gujarat. It is located on the top of the Pavadgadh hill. This temple is visited by huge number of pilgrims all year around. The temple is the only untouched site of this pre – Mughal city.
