Rail – The nearest rail station for Pushkar is Ajmer, around 12 km away. Ajmer is connected to all the major cities in India including Delhi, Bhopal, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Indore, Cochin and many more.

By Road – Pushkar is easily accessible by roads through Ajmer. Ajmer is around 12 km from Pushkar and there are many regular buses that ply regularly from Ajmer to Pushkar.

There are other private deluxe buses that ply regularly to Ajmer from many other cities in Rajasthan. The exact distance from Delhi to Pushkar is around 398 km and from Ahmedabad to Pushkar is 524 km.

Best Time to visit Pushkar


The best time to visit Pushkar is from October to March. The best part about visiting Pushkar around this time is also the fact that the one gets to witness the Pushkar fair. Summers are pretty harsh in Pushkar with the temperature bulging up to around 45 degree Celsius. But winters are pleasant sometimes too cold.

Pushkar Fair


Pushkar Fair is one of the largest cattle fair and a happening event in Pushkar. The event is usually held in the month of November. Katik Purnima (Full moon day during the Kartik month, as per the Solar year) is one auspicious day during which pilgrims flock in large numbers to take a holy dip in the sacred Pushkar Lake. So Pushkar has double celebrations during this time with the fair and the Purnima. The fair is a big event worth witnessing as there are various musical performances and folk dances organized during this period. The main attraction of this event is the Camel Race.
