Himalayan Nature Park in Kufri
Himalayan Nature Park is one of the most popular and prime attraction in Kufri. Tourist traveling to Kufri and Shimla make it a point to visit this grand beauty which is house to many animals and plants. Located in Kufri this nature park resembles to that of a zoo where animals are allowed to live in their natural habitats. But it has never been the same, as earlier which means before 1996 this park was more of a Musk deer farm. But finally the Central Zoo Authority of India recognized it as a full fledged nature park amidst the Himalayas, and named it Himalayan Nature Park in 1996. The rich bio-diversity present within this park is provided with high heath and hygiene. Best veterinary care and nourishment is provided to these animals by the authority. Moreover most of the animal enclosures which exist in this Himalayan Nature Park are larger in size compared to various other enclosures in rest of the Indian zoo. Hence animals get to have an ample opportunity to relax in a safer and comfortable enclosure which makes it one of the striking features of the park. One way this park is been kept in best conditions and maintained so to promote tourism in this area and also to promote animal conservation.Tourists are also attracted to this park for the trekking trails that it provides.
Location of Himalayan Nature Park
Himalayan Nature Park is located on a tiny yet beautiful hill stations in India, which is Kufri. This park is around 19 km from Shimla and is spread amidst 90 hectares of dense vegetation within the Himalayan Peaks. Himalayan Nature Park is set at an altitude of 2600 m above sea level.
Rich Bio-diversity of Himalayan Nature Park
The rich and dense vegetation of Himalayan Nature Park comprises of Fir-Spruce and Oak. Many herbaceous species keep sprouting depending upon the climate amidst these big trees. Few of these species also include flowering plants such as Primulas, geraniums, potentillas, balsam, ground orchid and many such which bloom over till September adding their fragrance and magic to the existing beauty of the Park. The animal species present in the Himalayan Nature Park include Musk Deer, Bharal, Tibetan Wolf, Leopard cat, Sambhar, Barking Deer, Cheer pheasant, monal, white crested kaleej and many more than over 180 species.
How to reach Himalayan Nature Park
The nearest airport for Himalayan Nature Park is Jubbarbhatti Airport in Shimla which is around 19 km away from the park. One can avail taxis and buses from this airport. The nearest rail road is Shimla through narrow gauge and Kalka through broad gauge. By road too one can easily reach Himalayan Nature Park as there are many state transport buses as well private buses from Shimla, Delhi, Kufri and many other places.
When to visit Himlayan Nature Park
Himalayan Nature Park can be visited from October to early June. This park receives heavy snowfall during winter and many tourists prefer visiting this place then. However avoid visiting Himalayan Nature Park during monsoons.

Entry fee: Rs. 10/- for Indian tourists and Rs. 200/- for Foreign tourists
Camera fees: Rs. 50/- for Indian tourists and Rs. 150/- for foreign tourists
Trekking in Himalayan Nature Park
One can experience the sheer magic of this park only if he wishes to indulge in the amazing treks of this park. Trekking are arranged by Sai Ropa Tourists Center which is located just 5 km from this park in village Gushaini. This trek takes around 5 to 8 days and is one of the best way to enjoy this park. Additionally even small and guided treks are available.
