Haveli in Dharampura is recognized as Late Mughal style; however, a portion of it is a later addition in the twentieth century. During the Mughal era, there were many havelis that were built by the courtiers. This haveli was built in 1887 AD. It was initially intended to have a blended design i.e. both private and business. Shops on the lower ground floor that open towards the road and the rest of the floors composed as living arrangement depicting the unification of the place. The ground floor with an excellent passage and first floor were built at a similar period, while the second floor plainly was a later addition in the mid-twentieth century. Earlier it was primarily used for residential purposes. However, as the time passed it is now used mainly for commercial activities.Current Scenario
Similar to other structures in old Delhi, even this place has turned into a ruin. But today, this haveli is in the race of getting nominated as the world heritage sites. In order to achieve this, for past seven years, restoration work is taking place in full swing. The only motive behind restoring this place is to bring back its originality that showcased strong reflection of Mughal and European era. To give back its original significance, the raw materials are procured from different parts of the county, for example, the cast iron railing were procured from Jaipur to give it an old Shahjahanstyle. Around 100's of masons worked day and night for the last seven years to give it back its old-world charm.
