A bike trip to Tikarpara in Orissa
Last year I along with my 2 roommates visited Tikarpara and Satkosia Tiger Reserve. It was my first bike trip ever. There were hills, river, crocodiles and a lot of excitement. I am sharing my experience here. Hopefully, you will like it.
Last year, in the month of March, things were not going according to my plan . I badly needed a break.I needed to go out and refresh my mind. My roommates were planning to have a bike trip to a nearby place and I joined them. It was supposed to be my first bike trip although there was some confusion in my mind about whether I can complete a bike trip or not, I was excited about it.
I was so excited that I could not sleep well the last night. We were supposed to start the journey at 6 AM but my friends woke up late so we started our journey at 8 AM after having our breakfast. The place we were supposed to go was Satkosia Tiger Reserve and Tikarpara. A few other colleagues of mine visited the place and had told us about the beauty of the place.
The place was about 80 KM from our house. The road was easy and we had no trouble reaching the place. We stopped in-betweens to refuel our bikes and to get the proper directions. We reached within 2 hours. We had to take the passes to enter the place and we were told to return within 5PM as after 5 PM elephants used to come on the roads. We had to take a separate pass to carry our personal cameras. The place was famous for his natural beauty, wildlife and calm and serene river. I was not disappointed.
I was stunned watching the scenic beauty of the place. It is worthy of visiting many times. There were rivers, hills and forests. The river water was crystal clear. I wished to bath there but where I saw a small crocodile in the river I postponed my idea. We were lucky to see few migratory birds too. I enjoyed the calmness and the scenic beauty of the place.
All of a sudden, we got an idea to take a boat and to go in the middle of the river and take pictures and stay in the middle of the river for an hour. It was a risky idea. There was only 1 boat on the shore and after much negotiation, the sailor agreed to go in the middle of the river. That was a lifetime experience. It is tough to describe your feelings in words when you are in the middle of a river and there are hills on one side and a beautiful temple on the other side and there are crocodiles, turtles and many other sea animals in the river. Seeing a crocodile underneath the boat I felt a little worried but luckily we returned to the shore safely. We all enjoyed the trip. We left the place within our allotted time and we had no issues returning back home.
The trip was a memorable one. The trip refreshed my mind. We all promised to revisit the place again after a few days, I thanked my roommates for successfully finishing the memorable trip. It was a lifetime experience.
I bet you should visit this place at least once if you are staying in Odisha.I bet you will like the place.
