Tips to Save money while travelling Abroad

Are you interested to save money while traveling abroad? Here are some ways to saving money on a foreign trip.

My family and I are avid travelers. After travelling through most parts of my own country it was finally time for a trip abroad. Here again let me tell you, we don't bother much with conventional trips. So in our travel dictionary a foreign trip does not entail the greater part of Europe or USA. Rather we indulged ourselves with trips like the Scottish Isles, Everest Base camp, wilderness of Masai Mara national park and so on. My husband and I both being mountain lovers, so we mostly wanted to travel through the mountains and hills. Hence a trip to Tibet and Everest base camp through China. Travelling abroad was fun as a daydream. But as and when planning came to action it was all accounting for finances and a whole lot of monetary thinking. For Indians travelling abroad money always seems to be tight. So we need to be wise on our spending. Here are some ways.

  1. Plan ahead of time. While travelling abroad and the cash is tight, make sure you make some very early planning.

  2. Look up flight tickets at least six months prior to your travel dates and keep looking for them by setting alerts on your phone so you know the best prices and are able to book accordingly.

  3. Make a list of the places you want to visit and how to go about it.

  4. Curtail on food. You can easily do so by having a sumptuous Brunch (a combination of late breakfast and Early Lunch).

  5. Avoid having food at gourmet restaurants. Try street food instead. But with street food be extra cautious. You must always be in the know of things regarding the food you consume. Don't go for the unknown.

  6. Stay downtown. This is very important as we tend to spend a lot on travelling places. If the hotel you put up in has a central location you can go about from one place to another by public transport. Even if you use a cab it will be more economical. So spend a little more on your accommodation to save your travel expenses.

  7. Always ask at the hotel concierge desk for travel tips and go with their advice. Also, let them know about your situation so they can plan you a trip accordingly.

  8. While buying souvenirs be very careful to know the prices. Don't be shy to bargain if the scope so arises.

  9. Buy knick-knacks from the local markets rather than the high priced stores who mainly cater to the European tourists.

  10. Try to follow a tourist road map. It will mostly help you to travel from stress-free.
