A relaxed weekend at an Airport Hotel - Review of JW Marriott, Aerocity
The article provides an overview of our experience staying at the JW Marriott facility in Aerocity, New Delhi. It is a business hotel which we have reviewed from a perspective of a leisure traveler. Our experience suggests that this is a good place for all category of travelers.
During my recent official trip to Abu Dhabi, which extended for a couple of months, I had earned quite a few points on Marriott Rewards. In addition, they had put a complimentary stay for a night at one of their facilities as part of an offer. The stay offer was for limited time and since we had no plans to venture out, we decided to leverage it for a relaxed weekend stay at the J W Marriott in Aerocity, New Delhi. As planned, we drove to the facility on a fine Saturday morning.
The location of the hotel is perfect for any business traveler as it provides a luxurious stay right beside the airport. It also is convenient for leisure travelers if they are looking for a place away from the hustle of the city while still being close to various places of interest. Soon, we were entering the wide entry gates to the hotel. After handing over the car to the valet, we proceeded to the reception.
It was a smooth and courteous check-in process and we had the keys to the rooms in our hand in no time. On our request, they also included a complimentary breakfast with the package. We were escorted to our rooms and the bellboy brought the luggage for us. We were pleasantly surprised with the room as we stepped across the hallowed halls of the hotel. It was a nice setup and the room had all the equipment one could hope for from a hotel accommodation. There was a solution to each of a guest's need.
To top it up, the hotel concierge was more than happy to help with any requests we had. We had an enjoyable evening of idleness and had real fun doing nothing. The room service was prompt and accommodating and some of our unique requests were also catered to with a smile. We really appreciated them walking an extra mile to ensure that we were comfortable. The service went to the extent they preemptively guessed what we may need and had a solution ready before we could even ask for it.
In the evening we strolled around the area and found a decent shopping mall on one of the arterial roads and enjoyed a good dinner at a Chinese place which served until late in the night. Well, how could one avoid shopping when you enter a mall and hence we also spent some money obliging some of the shopkeepers looking at us with expecting eyes. However, since the choices were limited and prices sky-high, we had a restricted scope to splurge.
Next morning, we enjoyed the elaborate buffet spread for breakfast, which could shame any full meal at other places. The breakfast was good and surprisingly Indian in taste. After a relaxed morning, we checked out of the hotel - which was again a very smooth process - around the afternoon and drove back. It was a great weekend away from the rigors of daily life – nestled in a silent and calm arena - while still being a stone throwaways distance away from anywhere we may have wanted to be.
