This is an article based on our experience visiting this themed restaurant. The place is more than about food - it is an experience in itself. Please read through our first-hand account of what is on offer!

If you talk to anyone about a destination in Jaipur, which excites him or her, a restaurant finds its name quite often. The name is of the themed restaurant – Chokhi Dhani. We had been witnessing the same and everyone we talked to somehow kept reminding us of the fact that we had not been to the place though we call the city our hometown. Be it someone planning a trip looking for guidance or be it someone describing their experience looking for our agreement, we found ourselves in awkward situations when we would say that we are yet to visit. Hence when we were in the town this time for our winter break we decided to bring this situation to end and try to sneak out to the famed restaurant. As we had heard that it is better to keep some time in the buffer, we planned accordingly.

The restaurant is located on the outskirts of the city and is about 25 kilometers away from the city center. We started on a weekday evening and it took us about a forty-minute ride to reach the location. We were standing at the ticket counter by about 5 PM only after being welcomed in the traditional way. After spending quite some time deciding on which tickets to take we finally made our mind and bought the tickets. We then took the tickets and proceeded inside. As you enter you find everything there themed as a village fare.

As you move around the place there is so much happening there that it may be a bit overwhelming on first look. But gradually you would realize that there is a method in the madness. As we progressed we could see that there were activities to engage all ages and tastes. For those interested in good food, there are small huts where local ladies cook the local bread and curry live in front of guests. For young ones, there were games like shooting to keep them occupied. There were performances being organized including puppet shows, magic shows, local dances, and stunt shows. For kids, there were elephant and horse rides. Boat rides are also available if someone is interested.

At the end of all the fun, you are served dinner closer to the night. Based on your ticket you could enjoy a buffet dinner or tradition sit-down dinner. The food is served with a lot of love and at no time would you feel them trying to save money on food. The famous hospitality is evident in every aspect of your interaction with the staff. The meal is filling and brings the local flavors in their best form. Once you end the meal, the experience comes to an end.

After the meal, we enjoyed mouth fresheners, again a local specialty, and began our return journey. It was definitely a fulfilling trip and worth all the effort and time spent. It would be wrong to call this place a restaurant but it is an experience in itself which goes much beyond food. Also, anyone visiting should ensure they come here with enough time in hand – in case someone comes here right at the time of dinner, they would have missed the real charm of this place. Also for someone who may be interested, there is also a hotel along with the restaurant where rooms are available to stay overnight and extend the fun.

Hope you liked our experience and if you haven't had a chance to visit it, you are encouraged by our experience. In case you would like any help or guidance, do get in touch and we would be happy to help.
