My trip to Badami and Hampi - A travel experience

Check out this travel blog to learn about my travel experience to Badami and Hampi.

India has a long and Glorious History. And its monuments are the witness of it. Today I am going to tell you about that era places only.

My trip started from Solapur to Badami by train and return from Badami to Solapur. We stayed in Badami in KSTDC Hotel Mayura Chalukya, Badami and in Hampi Hotel Mayura Bhuvaneshwari Hampi

Day 1: We reached to Badami at 2 pm and we took auto and reached to our Hotel. The hotel is property of government and the room was old but clean and specious one also the food quality and taste was good. After lunch we started our journey and hired rickshaw which dropped us to Cave Temple. Well one must carry Hat and Water bottle. Here there are lots of places which are nearby, Badami Fort, Agastya Lake, Bhutnath Temple, Archaeological Museum, Shivalay, etc. I must say the way to these places was really really beautiful. The road between two hills and just spectacular. And here lots of film shooting did.

Day 2: We hired car with help of hotel staff and started our second day. We went to Banshankari Madir. We had coconut water here and it was sweet one which we don't get generally in other places. We enroute to Pattadakal. It's a Unesco Site hence the maintenace is good. Here are most of the temples dated back to Chalukya era. One thing must remember you hire the guide so you can understand the information and small aspects of the architecture. There is not any official guide but we got a person who ready to tell us all details with Rs.200.00. After it we went to Aihole which also UNESCO site. Here also lots of temple of Chalukya era.

Day 3: We started our journey to Hampi. Enroute we went to Lakkundi. Our driver told that very rarely people come to lakkundi but I suggest doo not misses the place. Here you get to see the Jain Temple. Take my words you must amuse after seen the architecture wonder done in Jain Mandir. But to know these you need a guide which you get in Mandir. After this we went to see Step well of Lakkundi. After complete site seeing of Lakkundi we continue our journey and reached to Anegundi. This place is called the Birth Place of Lord Hanuman. It is world heritage site. Here are few sites like Pampa Sarovar, Rock Art which is 10 km away from Anegundi. After all sites we finally reached to Hampi and checked into our Hotel Mayura Bhuvaneshwari Hampi which is again government hotel. The rooms were in good condition. This Hotel is near to the hampi site.

Day 4: Well in old days the Hampi was main center of Vijaynagar Empire and it was one of the biggest cities of world at that time. We started our visit in early morning. In Hampi there are lots places and you can go that places by car or take bicycle or two wheeler. Here also I suggest hiring a guide. Here you get the government appointed officials guide and they actually knew every aspects of the site. Here you to see the Musical Pillars and the famous Vitthaal Mandir,Virupaksha Mandir, Ram Temple, etc. Please do not miss any point. Here don't miss Coracle ride and Hippi Island. If time permits you may visit Daroji Bear Sanctuary and try Rock climbing.

After the great historical journey we started our return back journey. There is also railway station in Hospet which is near to Hampi but as we didn't get booking fro there hence we came back to Badami and take away our train to Solapur.
