Because it has all the things that relaxes a person mind and gives a calm feeling. The weather and green bed makes you feel that you are living in the middle of the forest. Coorg is exactly located on the highest peaks of eastern slopes of Western Ghats. Tadiandamol and Pushpagiri are the popular highest peaks. Coorg is the place where scenery, tradition as well as people love are coincided at one location. This is a rare spot and most wonderful tourism place too. Hassan district is in the north boundary, Dakshin Kannada district is in northwest, Mysore is in the east, Kannur in Kerala is located in the south west and Wayanad in south. Cauvery river is the major supply of water to Coorg. The branches of Cauvery takes the major portion of water supply to Coorg. The temperature in Coorg is always low some times it reaches during the summer season. The minimum temperature is 15°c and maximum temperature is 28°c during April and May. The coolest and rainy period in Coorg is July and August. Rainy season starts from June to November, Summer season duration commences from March to May and winter starts from December to February. Coorg or Kodangu covers 4,104 sq. km filled with green lands and good people. It was a state till 1956, after that it was considered as a district of Karnataka. The most famous, largest and sacred river Cauvery originates from eastern side of Western Ghats. Eco tourism has been given more importance and protection of animals too. The thick forest is filled with different variety of trees that includes teak, sandal etc. The wildlife sanctuaries situated in Coorg are pushpagiri, Rajiv Gandhi National park, Brahmagiri and Talacauvery. Coorg was ruled by various kingdoms. South Indian Dynasties like The Cholas, The Chalukyas, the Rashtrakutas, the Kadambas, the Ganges, the Hoysalas and the Vijayanagar Rayas. It were ruled by Mysore sultans in 18 th century and the Haleri King was taken place till coorg got the independence. After many struggle, A district place is given to Coorg. Kodavas are the major portion of the people living in Coorg. The other categories are Bhase Gowda, Keralites, Beary muslims, tribal groups like Kudiya, Airies, Kurubas and Yeravas. Kodavas are experts in martial arts and most of them are Hindu community, named Kodava Kshathriyas. Poleyas are workers and Kudavas are the land owners. Kodagu or Coorg's capital city is Madikeri. This place is fully filled with green beds and nature's beautiful landscapes with mountains and cool weather. Rajiv Gandhi National Park is the other name of Nagarhole National Park. The wild animals and reptiles that are living in the national park are tiger, Jackel, Cheetah, elephant, deer, rock python, crocodiles etc. The waterfalls, enriched forest, and wonderful valleys are located in the park. The park covers 575 sq.kms of Coorg. Nisargadhama
Nisargadhama is the heaven place that is filled with bamboo trees, sandal tress and teak trees. This place is a biological park in Kushalnagar which is located 95 kms from Mysore. Forest department provides many facilities to the tourist by providing cottages on the top of the bamboo trees or staying in the cottages near the place where a person enjoys the nature views. The Elephant ride gives a chance to see peacocks, rabbits, and deer. The boating ride inside the forest fulfils the dream of getting an adventure ride. A playground for the children makes them to forget the time and enjoy each and every moment of nature presence. A beautiful island that was made by the Cauvery branch where the nature enriched trees are grown. A rope bride interest more tourist to take a trip to that island.
