This day tour from Kochi is a unique opportunity to experience the beautiful backwaters of Kerala and explore the flora and fauna, village life and some popular destinations through a country style, covered boat and A/c car. The day tour includes traditional Kerala style vegetarian lunch served in banana leaves on a small island in the backwaters.
This day tour lasts the whole day and is operated at quite, beautiful villages spread across the backwaters of Alleppey and Kottayam districts.
Tourists are picked up from the hotels or pickup points in A/c vehicle and the cost for pickup/travel/drop-off are included in the package cost.
Those who don't have the full day for the tour can use this as a half day tour as well.
Itinerary
9:00 am - Pickup from your hotel or pickup point in A/c vehicle
10:00 am - Cruise starts in a country style boat from a river at a location called "Murinjapuzha", a typical village about 20 km away from Kochi town. Cruise proceeds through the river and enters the backwaters through narrow canals.
12:30 pm: Stops at a village house along the backwaters to experience coir production and handicraft shopping.
1:15 pm: Lunch at a small island in the backwaters
1:45 pm: Proceeds in the boat after lunch
2:00 pm: Dropped off at Poothotta and continues the village life experience in A/c cars.
2:30 pm: Stops at a village house to see handloom/towel making process.
3:00 pm: Stops at a pottery unit where clay product manufacturing is demonstrated.
4:00 pm: Visit to a local tea shop at Vaikom. Enjoy a hot tea/coffee and taste some of the traditional Kerala style snacks.
4:30 pm: Visit to a centuries old traditional Kerala house and plantation visit. Get to know about the traditional Kerala architecture and also get familiar with the spices and plantation of Kerala.
5:00 pm: Visit to the famous Mahadeva temple of Vaikom.
Tour concludes with the temple visit. Guests are dropped off at their pickup point or hotel after the visit to the Vaikom temple.
Custom arrangements may be made to drop off at other locations like shopping malls or other local attractions.

The all inclusive cost for this day tour package is Rs 1,950. This includes:
1. Day cruise in the country boat
2. Kerala style vegetarian lunch
3. A government-approved tour-guide throughout the tour.
4. Cab charges for pick up, drop off and local tour
5. Visit to village houses and demonstration of pottery making, towel making, coir production etc.
What is not included in the cost:
1. Pick up from airport or other far places like Cherai beach, Kumarakom/Alappuzha resorts
2. Cost for purchasing items from various places including the houses of visit
3. Dinner
